Micron and Empire State Development (ESD) have established a Community Engagement Committee with the Committee is made up of local stakeholders to ensure meaningful, ground-up participation and discussion of Micron’s implementation and investments in the region and also includes five ex-officio members. The formation of this group is a critical component of the Community Investment Framework agreement made between New York State and Micron in October 2022, including representatives from local government, community organizations, educational institutions and more. Micron is partnering with universities and community colleges across the state of New York with the focus on expanding access to engineering, technology, and science education for students. These partnerships also include strategic engagements with faculty and staff to modernize curriculum, expand experiential learning opportunities in cleanrooms and labs, and increasing opportunities for all students to acquire tangible semiconductor equipment, process experiences and skills. Our partnerships also include pathways for students who start their journey at a community college and complete their engineering or other STEM degree at a university.
