Networking

Next-generation bandwidth

The mobility revolution drives explosive demand for networking bandwidth. We’re addressing this challenge by providing memory solutions that deliver revolutionary results.

Networking applications

We live in a connected world where communication is key. The Network brings computers, devices, vehicles and people together.

The 5th generation of wireless communications, touting speeds up to 20Gbps will remove any semblance of network bottlenecks, enabling the future of Artificial Intelligence, autonomous vehicles, and more data availability than ever before through Micron’s unique high bandwidth solutions.

Switching and Routing hardware found within data centers is what moves data around the world, ensuring you’re connected to your favorite streaming service, website, or social media feed.

Seamlessly connecting storage systems and processing systems requires low latency for immediate packet direction, moving a data as fast as possible through Micron’s high bandwidth, low latency solutions.

In this Internet of Things (IoT) era, computing devices outnumber humans. As Edge computer networking devices communicate with each other and the data center, Micron memory provides the performance and bandwidth to analyze data in real-time.

Security is critical, especially in the Network. Encryption, authentication and multistep verification require time. Micron’s high-speed solutions ensure that the Network has the time to perform these vital tasks.

Making it all work together

Our unique product offerings make Micron the clear leader in Networking memory products.

DDR4 is the best mainstream generation of DRAM technology, with new features centered on power savings, performance enhancement, manufacturability, and reliability improvements. These new features improve performance, power, manufacturability, reliability and stacking capabilities for the enterprise, cloud, ultrathin, tablet, automotive and embedded markets. With data rates up to 3200 MT/s, an operating voltage of 1.2v and additional power saving features; DDR4 increases performance up to 50% while delivering total energy savings as high as 25% compared to DDR3.

DDR3 is a great solution for compute and embedded systems—from desktop, notebook, server, and networking to industrial, consumer and connected home applications. When you’re ready to design in DDR3, we’ll be here to help. As an industry leader, we are expertly equipped to help you sort through the technical details and recommend the best DDR3 solution for your application.

Address the enormous demands of graphics processing with Micron’s GDDR5, GDDR5X and GDDR6 graphics memory products, offering high densities and high bandwidth. Their discrete design simplifies integration, making them an ideal solution for next-generation, high-performance graphics systems like graphics cards and game consoles, as well as networking, automotive and high-performance computing applications.

Our reduced-latency DRAM (RLDRAM® memory) is a high-performance, high-density memory solution that offers fast SRAM-like random access and outpaces even leading-edge DDR3 for sustained high bandwidth. RLDRAM uses innovative circuit design to minimize the time between the beginning of an access cycle and the instant that the first data is available. These traits make RLDRAM an ideal choice for 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE packet buffering and inspections, and it’s supported on a wide variety of FPGAs and network processor solutions.

Implementing load-reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) enables you to add more DIMMs per channel and increase the memory capacity and speed of your systems. Our LRDIMMs use a specially designed buffer to reduce the data load to a single load (up to an 8-rank DIMM), whereas standard RDIMMs present multiple loads for dual-rank and quad-rank versions and limit the amount of data you can load to the data bus.

Our VLP RDIMMs use up to 67% less board space than standard modules, making your design more compact, slashing thermal power consumption by improving airflow, and delivering the performance you need.

At the heart of our VLP UDIMMs is the world’s most advanced DRAM technology—designed so that your router, hub, switch, or bridge can be faster, smaller, and much more reliable. In fact, our lower-height, ATCA-compliant VLP UDIMMs are specifically made to be stacked vertically--significantly improving airflow and reducing power consumption. Plus, they are compatible with existing sockets.

Our embedded universal serial bus (eUSB) devices offer a compelling alternative to other storage solutions. Fast, reliable, and small, our eUSBs excel in harsh environments. Our next-generation eU500 products extend the benefits of current eUSB solutions and deliver enhanced performance and reliability features and pack up to 32GB of USB 3.1-compliant memory storage into their small form factor. These easy-to-implement eUSBs are ideal for boot drives and data logging applications such as networking, embedded computing and server systems.

Our SSDs leverage the SATA 6 Gb/s interface to provide outstanding performance for enterprise blade servers and system storage.
