Environmental, Health, Safety and Energy Policy

1. Purpose

1.1 Micron’s Global Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Energy Policy expresses Micron’s commitment to the environment, health, safety and driving energy efficiency.

2. Scope

2.1 This Policy applies to all Micron organizations, sites, and functions, including vendors/contractors.

3. Policy Statement

3.1 Micron is committed to achieving excellence in environmental, health and safety (EHS) performance as well as driving energy efficiencies as we pursue our mission to be a global leader in memory and storage solutions. 

3.2 We are committed to environmental protection and dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint through greenhouse gas emissions reduction, carbon free electricity and energy efficiency improvement, water management and conservation, waste management and pollution prevention. 

3.3 We believe all injuries and incidents can be prevented and everyone deserves to go home safely every day. We provide an incident- and injury-free workplace (Live Safe+) and promote the physical and mental well-being of our team members, contractors and visitors. We collaborate with key stakeholders to support the prevention of work-related injury and ill health. 

3.4 We do this by proactively setting strategic objectives through a systematic assessment process that considers our compliance obligations, EHS and energy risks and opportunities, and the needs and expectations of our stakeholders, as defined within the scope of our management system. 

3.5 All Micron team members and contractors must uphold this Policy. We hold our leaders, managers and supervisors responsible for conforming our operations to this Policy 

4. Definitions

4.1 Terms and Definitions

Live Safe+Live Safe+ is Micron’s EHS culture program focused on achieving an incident and injury free workplace by embedding the belief that all incidents are preventable. It ensures every team member, partner, and contractor can work safely, with dignity and respect, and go home safely every day.
StakeholdersA person or organization that can affect, be affected by or perceive itself to be affected by a decision or activity.


5. Requirements

5.1 We comply with the law, other compliance obligations and Micron’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. We strive to go beyond legal compliance where appropriate to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and people.

5.2 We employ a lifecycle-based management approach to minimize adverse EHS effects and reduce our environmental footprint across our operations, products, and supply chain by integrating EHS and energy considerations at the earliest stages of planning and design. This includes managing EHS and energy aspects related to our work environment, equipment, materials, processes, emissions, resource use, and waste across product design, use, and end of life to improve EHS and energy performance.

5.3 We support the opportunities to use carbon free electricity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our operations. We promote responsible water stewardship through water recapture, reuse, restoration, and conservation initiatives, and we drive efforts to reduce material consumption, waste generation, and process emissions through pollution prevention and resource efficiency practices.

5.4 We encourage our team members and contractors to provide EHS and energy enhancement suggestions, and we consider their suggestions in decision-making processes that affect EHS and energy performance.

5.5 We focus on continual improvement of our EHS and energy management systems to enhance our overall performance.

5.6 Micron will provide the necessary information and investments, including resources and capital, to support and deliver our EHS and energy efficiency commitments.

6. Policy Compliance

6.1. All Micron Team Members are required to comply with this Policy. Failure to comply with the requirements of this Policy can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
