ISO 9001 is one of a series of three international standards dealing with quality systems. Its standards set a globally recognized quality control system in design/development, manufacturing, testing, installation and servicing. The third-party certification confirms that Micron has a quality management system to ensure customer satisfaction and continual improvement.
Micron achieved ISO 9001 certification on February 1, 1994 and has successfully transitioned into the ISO9001:2015 standard.
Micron maintains an “enterprise registration” system that encourages central coordination and control across its sites and operations.
IATF16949 is an internationally recognized Quality Management System specification for the Automotive Industry. Developed to meet the rigorous expectations of the automotive industry and improve supplier performance, the standard included additions for improved customer requirements management, advanced product quality planning, risk management, control planning, measurement systems analysis and calibration, and business process management.
ISO/TS 16949:2009 will be obsolete effective September 2018 and replaced by IATF16949:2016. The latest version of the automotive standard is aligned and is used in conjunction ISO9001:2015.
Micron is continuing to model its Quality Management System after the additional expectations defined within the new standard release and is proceeding with certification transition.
