We believe our best innovation springs from our team members' diverse experiences, perspectives and backgrounds. Our new Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Report 2020 is an inspiring look at our vision to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. The phrase "for all " emphasizes Micron’s values as an inclusive company, and supports our journey to create opportunities for everyone.
In this brief video, Sharawn Connors, Micron’s VP of Diversity, Equality & Inclusion shares how Micron, as a global company, is making strides to eliminate bias and help build a culture of inclusion.
Our Board of Directors is now 50% female and our female senior leadership grew from 13.5% in 2019 to 15% in 2020. We are working to increase female technical talent by advocating through the Micron Foundation for more diversity in college and university engineering programs around the world.
Our people value makes it essential that we pay everyone fairly. We have a regular review cadence for pay globally — including base pay and stock awards. If we find gaps during the review, we fix them. Historically, our study has focused on gender globally. We have expanded it to focus on all underrepresented groups: women and people with disabilities (globally) and veterans, Blacks and Hispanics (U.S.). Our efforts go well beyond compliance or checking the box — we are committed to pay equity for all.
In FY20, Micron embedded our DEI initiatives in our business and operations around the world. We have set strategy-driven goals around inclusive hiring and inclusion and have assembled a diverse team of leaders who serve to represent and amplify the voices of all team members globally.
Today, the most successful workplaces with the most innovative ideas embrace diversity, equality, inclusion (DEI). Micron is committing to social change and is leading the charge to improve life for all.
It is not just about representation; it is how to do business. DEI has moved beyond HR practices, squarely into business strategy.
66.6% of U.S. team members identify as white (10.3% white women, 56.3% white men). The remaining 33.4% of U.S. team members are depicted in this graph.
Recognized as one of Forbes magazine's "Best Employers for Diversity" in 2020, we firmly believe that a workforce comprising diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives makes Micron a better place to work. To further sharpen our focus on inclusion, we are adopting new hiring practices and targeted programs to support our underrepresented team members in their advancement at all levels of the company.
