Micron Taiwan (OMT) and Singapore (MSB) have garnered remarkable recognition, ranking in the top 10% among more than 50,000 companies assessed by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) during its 30-plus-year history. Both sites received Outstanding Achievement awards — Taiwan for performance and transformation and Singapore for collective leadership.
The EFQM model
Two years ago, Micron set out to enhance our operational excellence, starting by evaluating models like the Malcolm Baldrige Award, Shingo Prize and EFQM Global Award. We chose the EFQM model for its comprehensive criteria, strong manufacturing presence and relevance to business areas such as automotive.
The rigorous assessment
Our first year, we focused on mastering the EFQM model, collaborating closely to tailor its criteria to Micron’s needs. We selected pilot sites — the OMT in Taiwan and MSB in Singapore — to lead in the formal assessment process. The evaluation was extensive and demanding, requiring us to deeply analyze our business aspects, communications strategies and stakeholder feedback mechanisms.
Recognition and celebration
But all our efforts paid off! At the EFQM Global Awards Conference in Istanbul in early June, Donghui Lu, corporate vice president of front-end manufacturing and the Taiwan country manager, and Gianpaolo Mettifogo, vice president of the MSB, accepted the awards on behalf of the OMT and MSB. These honors underscore the exceptional efficiency, effectiveness and continuous improvement demonstrated by both sites, highlighting their strategic vision and relentless pursuit of excellence.
Micron is proud to be the first company to receive EFQM recognition in both Taiwan and Singapore. This prestigious acknowledgment in our first year with the EFQM model is a testament to the outstanding work of our teams.
Join us in celebrating the OMT and MSB and marking this significant milestone in Micron’s ongoing journey toward operational excellence.
