Micron provides classroom presentations for hands-on science and career awareness, onsite events and site visits and participates in other STEM programs in many of our communities. K-12 ActivitiesCareers in a High Tech World Job Shadow
Location(s): Boise, Idaho
Micron offers an all-day onsite job shadow program for eleventh and twelfth grade students interested in engineering, scientific or technical careers. Students will experience a half day job shadow and a half day of high-tech career exploration and college readiness activities. Students in the greater Treasure Valley area are welcome to attend, contact Micron K-12 Programs for more information or request a registration link via the request form.

NOTE: The March Job Shadow will be geared to Technical Education Career Paths, and will be open to 10th – 12th grades!

Career Presentations
Location(s): Boise, Idaho; Manassas, Virginia
Employees give classroom presentations describing their education and career pathways and the work they do as high-tech professionals. Career presenters include engineers, chemists, physicists, technical writers, technicians and math specialists. Presentations can be career-specific or general engineering career awareness. Chip Camp
Location(s): Boise, Idaho
Micron engineers lead hands-on science activities related to semiconductor manufacturing in a three-day summer camp experience for students who have completed seventh or eighth grade.
The registration form for Chip Camp is made available on the Chip Camp website on the 2nd Monday in April of every year. Learn more about Chip Camp at the Chip Camp website.

2019 Chip Camp dates (each session is Tuesday – Thursday):

  • June 4-6
  • June 11-13
  • June 18-20

Classroom Presentations

Employee teams provide science lessons in the classroom using hands-on activities to reinforce math, science, or technology concepts. Lessons are available for various grade levels and are aligned with appropriate standards.

Girls Going Tech
Location(s): Boise, Idaho
This is a full-day onsite event for 8th-grade girls. The students explore STEM concepts through fun, hands-on activities and learn about STEM careers directly from women who work in those fields at Micron. Students in the greater Treasure Valley area are welcome to attend, contact Micron K-12 Programs or use the request form for more information.

Math Fun d'Mentals
Location(s): Boise (through the Foundation); California (Folsom); Virginia (through SySTEMic Solutions); State of Idaho (through Idaho State Department of Education).
Math Fun d'Mentals is a kit that provides an instruction guide, activities, and materials for your Elementary or Middle/Jr. High school to host its own Family Math Event.

Teacher Professional Development

Micron participates in Teacher Professional Development opportunities in our communities to advance STEM education standards and to acquaint educators with the connections between the classroom and the workplace.

Women in Technical Careers Luncheons
Location(s): Boise, Idaho
Women in Technical Careers (WITC) is a collaborative program with the Society of Women Engineers, Boise State, HP, and other technical companies to bring casual and informative lunchtime career presentations to female students, grades 9 – 12. Career presenters include engineers, chemists, physicists, technical writers, technicians and math specialists.
