Ministry of Environment Global Warming Prevention Activity Award
The facility received the Ministry of Environment Global Warming Prevention Activity Award in recognition of its greenhouse gas emission reduction program.
Thanks to a series of aggressive, facility-wide initiatives to conserve energy and raise employees' environmental awareness over a five-year period starting in FY2003, including reducing CO2 emissions by installing one of Japan's largest cogeneration systems and slashing greenhouse gas emissions by installing high-temperature PFC thermal abatement systems, the Hiroshima plant reduced equipment CO2 emissions by 862 kt per year (a 56% reduction).

2004

Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Award for Excellence in Factory Energy Control
The Hiroshima plant received the award from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in recognition of its effort to conserve environmental resources through its new co-generation system, which uses natural gas.
