An exciting new chapter for Micron begins this week as Sanjay Mehrotra becomes president and CEO and a member of the board of directors effective May 8. From co-founding and leading SanDisk from start-up to its eventual sale in 2016, to holding more than 70 patents in the area of nonvolatile memory design and flash memory systems, Sanjay’s experience, business success, and exceptional knowledge of the memory and storage industry make him uniquely qualified to lead Micron into the future.
Sanjay joins Micron at a time of great industry potential and momentum. Memory solutions are increasingly being considered as strategic differentiators as customers look for new ways to achieve scalability, power efficiency, and fast data access – features that memory and storage are best positioned to address. On the storage front, we are currently rolling out our Storage Summit to the U.K., meeting with customers and influencers to discuss the role of memory and flash in driving infrastructure change and innovation in the data center. And to better serve our global customer base, Micron has taken several strategic steps to optimize our operational footprint, including expanding key manufacturing technology and related activities in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States.
The significant progress led by Mark Durcan has allowed Micron to initiate this change in company leadership from a position of strength. As part of this transition, Sanjay and Mark sat down for a conversation on Micron’s future and why Sanjay is excited to be a part of what he calls an “iconic company.” You can learn more about Sanjay’s background here. Welcome Sanjay!
