In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to write my inaugural post about what I’m most thankful for here at Micron. Micron Storage Business Unit (SBU) and I are just nine months old (that’s right—we were introduced in March 2014). That seems like a short period of time until you reflect on all that we’ve accomplished.
We’ve grown our storage leadership with two new vice presidents and two senior directors, and we helped hire a new vice president of sales for enterprise storage. We’ve also been busy hiring across our core functional teams: engineering, firmware, marketing, controller development and software. In fact, we’re still growing. To be honest, I’m thankful this is mostly behind us.
In looking out at the market, the businesses we engage in are also undergoing significant change. While technology innovations continue to dominate, we see major trends like Web Scale IT, User Experience, and the Cloud impacting how and what our customers are looking for to help drive their businesses. With slick, new, organized teams and a clearly defined vision, I’m thankful these opportunities are still in front of us.
Many of our new team members come from the enterprise storage market, and by coupling these visionaries with Micron’s Flash experts, we have the right insights and technical horsepower to create change, not only for us, but more importantly for our customers. So, what I am most thankful for is to be part of a company that has the courage, opportunity, and talent to redefine the future of storage!
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
