On Sept. 24, Micron participated in the Idaho Governor's Innovation Summit bringing together leaders from various industries to discuss how the state of Idaho can help turn ideas into careers and economic growth. Micron's Vice President of Process Research and Development, Scott DeBoer, represented Micron on the panel discussion related to innovation in the manufacturing industry. DeBoer talked about the significance of R&D in Idaho, the need for an education system that prepares students to think globally and focus on innovation and the importance for local government to influence U.S. policy to support companies focused on technology and innovation.
As part of the summit, Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter announced that Micron was awarded $5 million in federal stimulus funds to advance a program focused on emerging opportunities in light-emitting diode (LED) technology.
