Micron and HUMMER announced in October that Rod Hall Racing HUMMER H3 vehicles competing in the 2007 SCORE International Tecate Baja 1000 would be equipped with innovative image sensor and advanced flash memory technology from Micron. And Rod Hall Racing ended up winning both the Stock Mini and Stock Full classes in the Nov. 13 race, with Micron's technology allowing the racers to record video of their winning efforts during the 1,000-mile odyssey.
This year's SCORE Baja 1000 celebrated the 40th anniversary of the race and represented 40 years of competing in the contest for Hall, 69, an off-road racing legend. To capture images of this racing celebration, Micron outfitted the Halls’ three HUMMER vehicles with Micron DigitalClarity™ image sensors and Lexar Professional CompactFlash™ memory cards to record and store video. Lexar Media is a Micron subsidiary.
This is the same technology Micron outfitted four off-road vehicles with when its executives competed in the 2006 SCORE Baja 1000 in the Wide Open Baja Challenge class. Micron participated in this year's race to further test that its imaging and flash technologies would operate seamlessly in today’s automotive, mobile phone, consumer electronic and computing devices. The technology performed wonderfully in the difficult racing conditions, and Micron continues to receive strong response from its customers.
