The Idaho State Board of Education held a news conference today to publicly recognize its GEAR UP Idaho partners. The Gear Up program is a federal discretionary grant program designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. The Micron Technology Foundation recently awarded the GEAR UP Idaho program with a $400,000 grant.
"The Micron Foundation would like to congratulate GEAR UP Idaho and its partners for securing additional support for the program," said Micron Foundation's Executive Director Dee Mooney. "GEAR UP’s focus on supporting the educational needs of our schools and students compliments The Micron Foundation's commitment of creating excitement for students in science and math which is critical to cultivating tomorrow's leaders. We are impressed by the program's success in other states and we look forward to seeing the results of the program in Idaho over the next several years."
