Cheering On Idaho Technology … From The Stands

By Micron Foundation - 2015-11-12

College football Saturdays are filled with passion, but this Saturday the Micron Foundation is expanding the celebration to every technology fan across Idaho. November 14 will mark the first-ever Celebrate Idaho Technology game at Boise State University, when the Boise State Broncos play the University of New Mexico Lobos. The Celebrate Idaho Technology game will honor Idaho’s history, presence and future as a technology and innovation leader while helping to broaden awareness for STEM subjects and the role they play in everyday life.

“We’re extremely proud and honored to partner with Boise State University to create the Celebrate Idaho Technology game, to help inspire the next wave of technologists and engineers,” said Dee Mooney, executive director of the Micron Foundation. “We share a similar passion for creating resources and opportunities that will enable our students and our community to thrive for years and generations to come."

During halftime of the game, Micron CEO Mark Durcan will present a ceremonial check on behalf of the Micron Foundation to Boise State President Bob Kustra and other representatives, recognizing a $25 million donation to help fund the creation of a new Center for Materials Research at the university. As the largest donation for both the Micron Foundation and Boise State, this historic grant marks Micron’s longstanding commitment to the university’s College of Engineering and will position the Materials Research program for national prominence, further distinguishing and differentiating the program and university into the future.
