The Micron Foundation is proud to announce a $100,000 gift to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County, to support the addition of a technology center, teen center and gym to the nonprofit’s Meridian, Idaho location. The donation reflects a commitment to enriching the communities where Micron team members work and live and providing youth with opportunities to see how STEM plays a role in everyday life and their future.
Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Colleen Braga shared her gratitude and thoughts on the partnership: "An investment from the Micron Technology Foundation demonstrates the faith and commitment that our local philanthropic leaders have in the great work of the Boys & Girls Clubs. Having a place for all kids to go afterschool is vital to a healthy community. Turning kids away was unacceptable, and I am glad that starting this fall we will be able to serve more kids than ever."
Micron Foundation Executive Director Dee Mooney also shared her thoughts about what this means for the community and STEM learning: “We are delighted to support the Boys and Girls Club in their efforts to build a positive and educational environment for the children in the Meridian community. By integrating a technology center into their expansion plans, they are also building excitement in math and science for the next-generation of innovators.”
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Meridian Clubhouse location and is open to the public.
