Certifiably Awesome: Our Enterprise SSD Receives Rave Reviews

By Scott Shadley - 2014-07-02

I try not to brag too much when Micron really hits the mark with our products—but in this case, I just can’t help being overly excited about sharing the recent recognition that our M500DC SATA solid state drive (SSD) has been receiving in the industry.

We released the M500DC in April with the onus of fulfilling the growing need for a data center-centric, enterprise-class drive that doesn’t “break the bank.” I’m very pleased that several industry reviewers found that our M500DC can do just what Micron predicted the market wanted—and awarded the drive with some outstanding honors:

TweakTown Editor’s Choice Award

“Micron provides an economical storage solution that delivers outstanding random write performance… Power loss protection and other enterprise features seal the deal on a solid mixed-workload SSD.”

Custom PC Certified Silver Award

“…the M500DC is in the perfect position to meet the needs of datacenters who require enterprise grade reliability, consistency and power loss protection, but aren’t looking to pay traditional enterprise grade prices…  What’s more impressive however, is the M500DC’s ability to keep latencies low despite being constantly hammered with data.”

I’m personally always super-excited when something that I work on receives awards from industry reviewers because they are real users themselves, who test actual drives using real-world scenarios. The M500DC came out in the top of the class when benchmarked against the competition, and helped further validate the success predicted by Micron’s SSD Marketing and Engineering teams. I would love to hear your thoughts. Leave a comment below or send a tweet to @SMShadley.
