Design Support

Micron's Designer's Toolbox provides resources for designers developing system-level products that take advantage of the DDR SDRAM memory architecture. From presentations and design resources to industry standards and specifications--you'll find the information you need in the Toolbox!

Design Resources

  • DDR SDRAM Technical Notes
  • System-Power Calculators — Method for estimating the memory power requirements needed in making system architecture and design decisions
  • Motherboard Tested Memory — Lists qualified Micron module/motherboard combinations
  • Simulation Models — Simulation Models for DDR parts can be found on the part detail pages. Visit the Part Catalog to select a part.
  • Module Modeling — The PCB design files for all the DDR modules are included in the Common Gerber design package. These design files are from Cadence Allegro (.brd) and are directly compatible with Cadance SPECCTRAQuest simulation tools. There are translation tools available that will convert these files to formats that are compatible with Mentor ICX, QUAD (.xtk), and others.

Standards and Industry Specifications

JEDEC has defined a standard module PCB which consists of design schematic, trace routing, and stack-up. By defining a module design, we have achieved a consistent electrical performance for the system designer and end-user.

Micron complies with all standards hosted on the DDR unbuffered SODIMM common Gerber. We encourage all designers and end-users to insist on DDR Modules based on this design.
