"I love my job because it allows me to be involved and interact with different groups or teams."
Leanne, Product Engineer
What do you do in your position?
My team's primary function is to solve problems. I spend a lot of time in a lab collecting data on DRAM parts and analyzing them to come up with adequate solutions. My job also involves training new people. I teach them the general descriptions of the memory parts and projects for which we are responsible. I help them learn the tools we use to gather data. Some of the people I train are college interns.
How or why did you decide to enter a technical career?
Ever since I was young I was always interested in knowing how things worked. I liked taking things apart and putting them back together. Although they did not always work afterward, I loved the challenge. Later I discover that engineering offers the opportunity to be involved with technology, and its challenges are much like taking things apart and putting them back together. Encouraged by my parents, I entered the electrical engineering program in college.
What do you like about your job?
Give an example of an interesting project or opportunity.
I love my job because it allows me to be involved and interact with different groups or teams. I am constantly learning from those with whom I work. To do my job well, I need to learn new things everyday since technology is constantly changing.
What high school courses helped you prepare for your job or
college program?
I took a lot of math and physics courses in high school, and even though I ended up taking them again in college, it was really helpful to have seen the concepts before. The high school level courses gave me a foundation to build on which made college easier.
What post-high school education did you pursue?
I have a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a master's in electrical engineering.
