Serial NAND Solutions Give You More for Less
We designed Serial NAND Flash to take on two specific challenges. First, we wanted to offer you the lowest cost-per-megabit of any serial Flash memory option available—so you could build your next design for less. Second, we wanted to offer more density options than other SPI flash solutions, so we’re producing Serial NAND with densities starting at 1Gb. Simply put, our Serial NAND gives you more density for less cost. Read on to find more detailed information about how our Serial NAND might be a good choice for your next design, whether you’re working on a new set-top box, creating the next interactive learning phenomenon, or developing a specialized motherboard with big BIOS demands.

Micron Announces Serial NAND Flash
As embedded systems evolve and add more features, they require more embedded memory, greater density. So we’ve introduced Serial NAND Flash memory. This solution provides more density options than comparable NOR solutions at a lower cost-per-bit.
Read our Press Release.
Our Serial NAND uses the standard, 4-signal serial peripheral interface (SPI) bus that operates in full duplex mode, but is easy to design in to any system. Serial NAND is available in a VFBGA package compatible with parallel NAND.
Optimize your design and ease your development process with our NAND software offerings. We’ve partnered with third-party vendors like HCC Embedded and CMX Systems to offer Serial NAND drivers and complete OS systems to help you get the most out of our memory.

4 Advantages of Designing with Serial NAND
Lowest Cost-Per-Megabit
With its smaller architecture, Serial NAND Flash is simply less expensive than SPI NOR options.
Greater Density Than SPI NOR
Starting at 1Gb, Serial NAND can offer four times or more the density of serial NOR.
Error Correction
On-chip error correction code (ECC) makes implementing Serial NAND easy and enables a greater range of potential applications.
Faster Write Performance
Serial NAND offers better write performance than NOR Flash.
