Brilliant Images from a Tiny, Low-Power Package

Based on proprietary FLCOS technology, our Displaytech microdisplay panels and modules offer the most compelling combination of clarity, brightness, and color fidelity for mobile display applications like camera viewfinders, heads-up displays, and pico projectors. We integrated these impressive display patents into our portfolio through a recent acquisition. Our FLCOS microdisplay technology is built on nearly 25 years of research and development and is already designed in to millions of consumer products.

Built on Great Technology

Incredibly fast pixel switching technology enables us to build sequential color images, producing a stunning display with sharp edge clarity. And we do it all with an integrated solution that—unlike many competitors—works beautifully across a wide temperature range.

To understand why speed is important, you have to know a little about how our FLCOS microdisplays work and where they’re going. Visit our FLCOS innovations page for a short video and explanation of microdisplay technology; read our blog for breaking news and a glimpse of what the future might hold.

Benefits of FLCOS Microdisplays

The ultra-high speed of the proprietary ferroelectric liquid crystals in our Displaytech microdisplays is the foundation behind several superior performance specs:

Better Color Fidelity

Field sequential color produces brighter, more fully saturated colors.

Better Image Quality

Because field sequential color allows each pixel to show the true color, no precious resolution is wasted on RGB pixel combinations; the result is fine pixel borders and high resolution that make for truly high-quality displays that show text clearly.

Lower Power Use

At less than 100mW, our integrated microdisplay chips use a fraction of the power required by competing display technologies like micromirror.

Smaller Footprint

Because our FLCOS display is built on CMOS technology, we can integrate critical image processing and memory functions onboard—not on three or four separate chips like micromirror technology.

Broad Operating Temperature Range

Our FLCOS technology operates at temperatures as low as –10°C. Competitors’ sequential color LCOS displays only work well at high temperatures, so they require heaters during low-temp startups, which delays boot up and drains battery power.
