Power-Saving Solutions That Make a Difference
There are at least two things we have in common. First, we all love to save. Second, we want to please our customers. That said, you should know that you can accomplish both those things with Aspen Memory®. Our energy-efficient Aspen Memory modules reduce server power consumption by 30-45%, slash cooling costs, and keep up consistent performance.
These 1.35V DDR3 and 1.5V DDR2 reduced chip count (RCC) modules are specially made for data center servers, where memory is a real power hog. With a reduced chip count, they deliver the same performance and memory capacity with half the number of components. And because there are fewer modules, there’s less heat generated, so cooling costs are lower—along with overall power consumption costs.
For data centers, a combination of blade, virtualization, and memory technologies may be required to increase scalability, agility, and overall efficiency. Find out more about what Aspen Memory technology can add to that equation.
Aspen Memory Implementation – How You Can Achieve Major Power Savings
According to Joule’s and Ohm’s laws, switching to low-voltage, 1.5V FBDIMMs can save you 16% over standard 1.8V FBDIMMs. But you can save even more when you use Micron’s Aspen Memory 1.5V FBDIMMs, manufactured on true 1.5V process technology—as much as an additional 15-20% more. Find out how in our latest technical note.

1.5V DDR2 Components
With our low-voltage, 1.5V DDR2 components, you get a memory solution that’s designed and manufactured on true 1.5V process technology. This process lets us bypass the inefficiencies of a voltage regulator and reduce power consumption by an additional 15–20%—over and above what you’d get with another 1.5V solution.
Aspen Memory 1.5V DDR2 FBDIMMs
Maximize your energy savings at the microchip level by using energy-efficient 1.5V FBDIMMs. Other than the voltage change, using 1.5V FBDIMMs is transparent to your system. The performance, timing, and other operating requirements for 1.5V FBDIMMs are identical to 1.8V FBDIMMs; the 1.5V parts just consume considerably less power.
1.35V DDR3 Components
If you’re looking for ways to reduce power consumption, be sure to factor in the additional savings you can achieve with low-voltage memory—even next-generation DDR3 memory. While standard DDR3 memory technology operates at 1.5V, our energy-efficient DDR3 products operate at a reduced 1.35V.
3 Ways Aspen Memory Products Enable Energy Savings
Maximized Energy Savings
Slashes the number of components needed by half, while providing the same performance and memory capacity.
Enhanced Thermal Performance
Reduces the heat generated by servers, so less energy—and money—is spent on cooling them.
Reduced Power Consumption
Reduces standard DDR2 voltage from 1.8V to 1.5V and DDR3 voltage from 1.5V to 1.35V, which cuts power consumption significantly.
