Online Software Documentation

Audience: Micron employees

Purpose: To document software functionality and use

Author: Micron employees

Editor: Professional technical writers and subject-matter experts

Delivery: Online

Example:  View an example of online software documentation

Comments: Like the Micron Procedures, online software documentation is Web-based which allows the writers to use multiple typeface styles and sizes, colored text, symbols, graphics, and hypertext links.

Online software documentation can be revised by any Micron employee, but it typically originates with a programming team. To guarantee accuracy, the software documentation is reviewed, edited, tested, and approved by professional technical writers and subject-matter experts. After approval, the area employees receive notification that new software documentation exists (or changes were made to existing software documentation) and that they need to review it. These documents are also used for training and certification.
