Visiting Faculty Program
Program Goals
- Support education
- Help faculty gain industry experience
- Partner with institutions of higher education to initiate curriculum changes essential to our industry.
To achieve these objectives, faculty members are placed in areas applicable to their fields of study, where they are allowed to function as regular team members. They have opportunities to work on applied projects and to interface with industry professionals at the company.
Recruiting
Visiting Faculty Participants are recruited nationwide, and they come from
a diverse range of studies. Participants may work in a variety of departments
based on their backgrounds and positions available, such as:
- Test
- R and D
- Fab
- Information Systems
Eligibility
Faculty from colleges and universities who have the written approval of their
administration to participate in the Visiting Faculty Program are eligible to
participate.
Length of Time
Visiting Faculty participants may work a variety of shifts and are usually
full-time. Opportunities are available during summer months and throughout the
year. Faculty are usually required to participate for a minimum of six weeks,
although no maximum length of time has been established.

- Include a cover letter noting area(s) of interest or focus in a Micron assignment,
the time period available, and whether housing will be needed in Boise.
- Written approval from your administration to participate in the Visiting Faculty
Program.
- Micron's Corporate Training and Education Department will work with the
sponsoring department(s) to define the work that the faculty will be doing, length
of assignment, work schedules, etc.
- Faculty applicants/assignments will be reviewed and submitted for approval
by Micron's Training and Education Steering Committee.
- The faculty member will be notified of the Steering Committee's decision and
work assignment.
Additional Benefits
Transit Expenses and Housing
Micron may assist with travel expenses to and from Boise. Micron may supplement
housing costs and has some corporate apartments available. Transit and housing
assistance will be decided on a a case-by-case basis.
Health Services
Micron has a health-care facility available to employees on site for personal
medical care. The clinic charges a small fee for appointments, lab work, and prescriptions.
Fitness Center
Micron also promotes health through fitness with an 8,000 square-foot Fitness
Center on site. Exercise and weight rooms provide plenty of space for employees
to use state-of-the-art equipment and participate in aerobics classes.
