DDR3 SODIMMs for laptops

A New Philosophy in DRAM Power and Performance

We’re working diligently to make all of our DRAM products use less power, but with an important stipulation—we refuse to sacrifice performance to do it. It’s a philosophy we call “performance efficiency.”

We’re leading the push to lower-power memory because we see your end-customers’ requirements tightening. Whether through government regulation or simply personal preference to reduce carbon footprint, strict power budgets aren’t just for niche markets anymore. Power has become a precious commodity, and nearly all applications are being asked to conserve it wherever they can. We see opportunities for memory to ease some of that power budget, and we can do it while still delivering leading-edge performance.

Groundbreaking Power Efficiency for High-Performance Laptops

In the past, anyone designing a laptop had to make a critical design decision: low-power or high-performance? Battery life or throughput? Now, you can truly have both.

Now Sampling 1.35V DDR3 SODIMMs

Micron is proud to announce the world’s first 1.35V DDR3 SODIMMs. These compact modules deliver all the performance of standard DDR3 modules (1333 MT/s), but draw just 1.35V—offering about 20% power savings over 1.5V modules. We’re sampling 1GB and 2GB modules now, with 4GB parts coming later this year.

NVIDIA and Micron—Enabling the Shift to Low-Voltage SODIMMs

NVIDIA and Micron Shift to Low Voltage SODIMMBecause your memory choice often hinges on compatibility, we make a point to actively engage with key industry partners to validate our modules. We’re working closely with NVIDIA to validate our 1.35V DDR3 SODIMMs on their latest high-performance laptop graphics processors. The idea is to deliver the advanced features and performance that NVIDIA customers have come to expect, with a power-conserving, high-bandwidth SODIMM family.
